Is 24V brighter than 12V slim light boxes?
Using 12V or 24V, it is depended on the design of manufacturers. It is common for a 12V and 24V LED strip to have the same brightness. Because the brightness of led strip is not determined by the voltage, but actually by the type of led chip, and the number of leds per meter.
But in practical use, the 24V led strip performs better than 12V in the drop voltage. 24V permissible length is twice longer than 12V led strip. That means the brightness from the beginning to the end of the led strip in the longer distance is almost the same. This is very helpful for slim light boxes to achieve symmetrical illuminating, specially for large size super thin light box. For example, the voltage will be about 23.3V (drop 2.9%) after one meter, and the voltage will be about 22.6V (drop 5.8%) after two meters in the 24V led strip. But the voltage will be about 10.6V (drop 11.6%) after one meter, and the voltage will be about 9.2V (drop 23.3%) after two meters in the 12V led strip.
